Rick Pascall
My name is Kristen Pascall. My husband, Rick, was a San Miguel Firefighter and was diagnosed in 2008 with malignant melanoma.
Luckily we immediately fell into the lap of Dr. Gregory Daniels at UCSD and he saw us through 2 ½ years of treatment. My husband and I learned of the walk and created team Rick’s Road Followers in 2008…our team started around 75 strong!
There is nothing I feel more strongly about supporting due to the incredible treatment, knowledge and compassion we received through UCSD. My husband attended the Bruce Gorder Walk for Melanoma Awareness from 2008–2010 and passed away Oct. 1, 2010…just 3 weeks after he attended the walk that year.
For the first time he was unable to participate as he had become very ill and weak, but it was important for him to be there because of all the support we received over the years. We have been walking in his honor ever since. Being asked to join the committee several years ago gave me a purpose and a voice and I am honored to be a part of this important and growing event.
